Watertown, Conn.—April 12, 2012 — The last time David Gravel faced a track for the first time in a World of Outlaws event, it was a winning combination. That was last fall at Talladega Short Track in Alabama, when he scored his first career A-Feature win with the series. This week, he’ll make his maiden voyage to Paducah International Raceway in Kentucky, to battle the best sprint car drivers in the world.

The weekend opens for Gravel on Friday, April 13 at the high-banked 3/8-mile Paducah International Raceway aboard his Kistler-powered J&J. He’ll follow that up with a trip to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri on Saturday, April 14.

“When you are facing a new track, you have to face it like any other track,” Gravel explained. “You have to put the hammer down during hot laps and get a good feel for it, so you know how to approach it during qualifying. Hopefully we will be able to get a good feel for the track and are able to do well throughout the evening.”

After an overnight drive, the 19-year will take to the track at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55. Gravel has competed at the high-banked bullring a couple of times in the grueling Ironman 55. He made his debut at the track in 2009 and in 2010, scored his best finish at Pevely, as he completed all 55 laps and brought his familiar No. 89G home in the 12th position.

“Pevely is really a fun track,” shared Gravel. “I won my heat race there with the Outlaws in 2010, so I am looking forward to going back there. It is a small bullring that is a lot of fun to drive on. The competition is going to be tough, but I think it is going to be a good weekend. Pevely is a very racy track and if you do well in time trials, you know you are going to have a good night.”

Gravel competed with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions last weekend at Attica Raceway Park in Ohio. After mixed results, that saw him finish 16th in the main event on the opening night, while not qualifying for the feature in the finale, the young driver is looking forward to returning to action this weekend and taking on the World of Outlaws.

“A friend once told me to always look forward and never look back and that is what I am going to do this weekend,” explained Gravel. “I am not going to look back to last weekend and put all my effort into running well at Paducah and Pevely. “

Gravel has made three starts with the World of Outlaws this season, all at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida. He finished third on the final night of that event, after a thrilling battle for the lead with four-time series champion Donny Schatz and eventual winner Craig Dollansky. Gravel has five Top-10 finishes this season with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions and is currently third in their national points.

David Gravel and DDR Motorsports would like to thank: J&J Chassis, JRC Transportation, Kistler Engines, Musco Fuels and P&M Transportation for their continued support.
