SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Selinsgrove Speedway will present the 11th Annual Pro Stock 20 at 7 p.m. this Saturday, May 5, to kick off a month of special events at the historic Snyder County oval. The 20-lap championship race will pay $1,000 to win and $100 to start. Joining the pro stocks will be the 358 sprint cars, late models, and roadrunners. Track gates will open at 5 p.m.
Two-time defending track champion AJ Hoffman of Richfield is also the 2009 and 2011 winner of the Pro Stock 20. The current Salem RV Center/Byers Built Engines point leader, Hoffman has two victories already this season. Mike Kiehl of Ashland and Hayes Mattern of Beavertown have also won pro stock features in 2012.
Other past winners of the Pro Stock 20 include Gary Beward of Thompsontown (2007, 2006, 2004), Troy Miller of Tower City (2005), Kyle Bachman of Selinsgrove (2003), Gerald Kratzer of Selinsgrove (2002), and Jason Smith of Williamsport (2008 and 2010).
Time trials and a B-main will be the qualifying format for the pro stock division’s biggest race of the season.
The speedway will hold the final open practice session of the season from 6:30-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, prior to the running of the 32nd Annual Jack Gunn Memorial Challenge Race for 358/360 sprint cars on Saturday, May 12. The Gunn Memorial will be part of this year’s six-race Mach 1 Chassis Mid-Atlantic 360 Sprint Car Series and will also include the late models and roadrunners on the racing card.
The 6th Annual Collier Paving & Construction Roadrunner 20 will follow on Saturday, May 19, along with 358 sprint cars and late models.
Over the Memorial Day holiday, the half-mile track will be in operation two times with a four division show of 358 sprint cars, late models, pro stocks, and roadrunners on Saturday, May 26, and an open wheel doubleheader featuring the Ray Tilley Classic Keystone Cup race for 410 sprint cars and super sportsman on Sunday, May 27.
The start time through the month of May will be 7 p.m. with track gates opening at 5 p.m.
Selinsgrove Raceway Park will present a program of go kart and micro sprint car racing at 7 p.m. Friday, May 4, featuring the first $500-to-win Pro Series race of the season for the Animal 375 lb. class. Track gates will open at 5:30 p.m.
