Park City, Kansas – May 1, 2012 – The month of May is that time when the first Holiday for the New Year is upon us, travel plans are made and racing is at a premium in all types of motorsports. The same can be said for the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products as all five of divisions will take to the track at some point during the month. This includes a huge three night swing of NCRA action featuring two series divisions over Memorial Day weekend.
Below is a brief glimpse of racing for the month of May for the series’ 360 sprint car, 305 sprint car, southern sport mod, modified and late model divisions.
NCRA 305 Sprint Car division:
The new division for the series kicks off their inaugural season this coming Saturday night, May 5th, at 81 Speedway in Park City. This will be the first of a nine race schedule for the tour that will pay $1000 to win and $200 to start each feature finale. Gates open at 5:00 pm and racing starts at 7:00 pm. General admission prices are $10, $5 for children while pit passes are $20.
NCRA Southern Sport Mod Division:
The third event on the 2012 race season for the fourth year division gets back underway on Saturday night, May 19th, at 81 Speedway. This will be the sixth visit to the home track of the series since the southern sport modified division was formed back in 2009. The sport mod feature pays $500 to win and $100 to star. Gates open at 5:00 pm and racing begins at 7:00 pm. General admission prices are $10, $5 for children while pit passes are $20.
NCRA 360 Sprint Car Division:
With two races in the books the tour will head to RPM Speedway in Hay’s Kansas for the second annual “Sprint Car Maynia” that pays the regular series purse of $2000 to win and $300 to start. Last year’s inaugural event saw the now retired Garry Lee Maier pick up his only feature win on the season. Pit gates open at with grandstand admission opening at 5:30 pm. Hot Laps at start at 6:30 pm and races at 7:30pm. General Admission tickets are: Adults $15.00, Kids 5-12 $5.00.
NCRA Late Model Division:
The 29th season for the series late model division kicks off their ten race schedule on Saturday night, May 26th at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool, Nebraska. “Getting back to what the divisions schedule use to be” will see the 2012 season for the tour be cut in half of what it had been for the past several years. But don’t let that detour you from attending as these full-bodied gladiators should see drivers from at least four states competing. No other sanctioning bodies are competing in the Nebraska or Kansas area so a good car count should be expected. Racing starts at 7:00 PM (GATES OPEN AT 5:00 pm) $15 adults, $4 ages 6-12 / 5 and under are free! Pit passes are $30 for Non NASCAR members / $20 for NASCAR licensed members.
NCRA Modified Division:
Two nights over Memorial Day weekend await the tour’s modified division, the only division this year to see a double-header weekend. It all kicks off on Saturday Night, May 26th at Mid-America Speedway in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma in what will be their first appearance since the 2006 race season. Gates will open at 4:00 pm with racing set for a 7:00 pm start time.
Then on Sunday night, May 27th, “The Hummer,” Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kansas will host the modified tour for the second year in a row for the “Dwain Whitworth Memorial.” Last year it was home track favorite Justin Folk taking the victory with a stout field of over forty cars. More of the same car count is expected this year. Gates open at 6:00 pm and racing at 8:00 pm.
For these two events, both the NCRA and USRA rules will be allowed, however there will be no mixing or matching of rules.
