May 9, 2012 – Next up for Kerry Madsen and the Keneric Racing #29 team will be three dates with the PA Posse. Tonight, they will tackle the “Gettysburg Clash” at Lincoln Speedway near Abbottstown, before heading to Williams Grove Speedway Friday and Saturday near Mechanicsburg. Last weekend, Kerry found himself vying for a lead at Eldora Speedway on Friday before an accident. He would finish twelfth on Saturday.
In Friday’s prelim at Eldora near Rossburg, Ohio, Kerry timed in 11th amongst the 33 competitors. He would win his heat race and finish tenth in the dash. “We had an excellent night going,” he says. “We had a good qualifying lap, and the heat went excellent.”
In a strange feature that saw many incidents, Kerry found himself up front on a restart with a handful of laps to go. “We had a good run going,” he says. “We started tenth. We were in an awesome position to win the race, and it is what it is.”
The crazy event can be seen here http://youtu.be/zbpgn1OABYY! “I feel like I did what you do at Eldora,” says Kerry. “I didn’t feel like I did anything wrong. Most who have seen the video agree with me. You are disappointed, but I was a little relieved that the video was there to show what happened.”
The crash left Kerry with a 15th place finish officially. “It was disappointing,” he admits. “We were in a position to win a race. It would have been awesome to do that for Bob and Pete (Gavranich) and Keneric Racing at Eldora. It would have been fantastic.”
Kerry qualified eighth for Saturday’s finale at Eldora. “Of course, we had to bring a new car down for Saturday,” he says. “We were actually looking good in the heat race. We got to second, but I ended up fourth which put us out of the Dash.”
Starting fourteenth, Kerry worked into the top ten, but checkered twelfth after a late restart. “We had a bad restart with two to go,” he says. “We were just in the wrong line. The inside line got the bad finishes and that’s where we were. It was a good weekend for the car. We definitely have car speed.”
The team is ready for tonight’s “Gettysburg Clash”. “I’m looking forward to Lincoln,” says Kerry. “It’s a fun little track. It’s PA Posse territory, so it will be tough. I ran there once with the All Stars. I think our package will suit Lincoln pretty well.”
Friday and Saturday sees the World of Outlaws heading to the Grove. “Obviously, Williams Grove will be tough as usual,” says Kerry. “If you miss by a tenth at a regular show, you may miss the invert. At Williams Grove, you may be 40th quick. It’s pretty intense, but I think we’ll be good. I’m looking forward to going there with Rob (Hart) and the new package this time. Going in we are confident.”
