CAP HENRY and Team CHR’s Rollercoaster Ride at the 2012 Ohio Sprint Speedweek

From CHR

If anything comes from this week during the “30th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek”, CAP HENRY and Team CHR have learned a ton about perseverance and how momentum runs on a two-way street.

The only thing left on the table during the first four nights of the “nine race, nine night” schedule was a trip to victory lane…and they were extremely close…twice!  Cap qualified in the Top 5 for the first 4 races, nailed a New Track Record at Waynesfield and scored 3 Top 10’s.  His worst finish (17th) came while leading the first 36 laps of the feature only to avoid a flipping back marker in front of him.  After being sent to the tail of the field, Cap and Team CHR grabbed a 2nd, 4th and 8th in the next three “A” Mains.

“We were so close to winning during the two opening nights that I knew we were going to be really good all week,” he said in his always “up-tempo” race mode.  “We got off to a great start, struggled through the middle of the week but got back up front last night where I want to stay…!”

After two disappointing nights in a row in races 5 and 6, the team bounced back last night only to have a right rear tire go flat mid-race.  Changing the tire, dropping to the tail of the field, “the kid” went from the back of the field to finish 9th and turn that “momentum thing” back towards the right direction.

“I’m excited about getting to Limaland tonight just to prove that we have kept our focus all week.  Andrew (Barman) and the guys have given me great cars all week…now it’s time for us to finally get one!”

The “Speedweek” schedule finishes this weekend at:

Friday, June 29th @ Limaland Motorsports Park, Lima, OH
Saturday, June 30th @ Fremont Speedway   Fremont, OH

Team CHR is sporting a new, enhanced relationship with long-time supplier Keizer Aluminum Wheels which has stepped up their support in a huge way, much like Stanton-Mopar and others who continue to realize the viability of the team’s program.

Cap slips into 5th in All Star National Points behind DALE BLANEY and TIM SHAFFER and is only 20 points behind DAVID GRAVEL and PAUL McMAHAN.
