Darrah Has Action Packed Holiday Week

PETERSEN MEDIA

– Taking advantage of Pennsylvania Speedweek along with three World of Outlaw races, Cody Darrah’s holiday week was chaotic as the youngster bounced across the country, but put together a very strong week highlighted by a second place finish Tuesday night at the Huset’s Speedway.

Kicking off the busy week at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, SD, Darrah started the night off by timing in 11th fastest aboard his Sage Fruit/Schroth Racing/Roth Motorsports backed entry.

Winning his heat race in convincing fashion, Darrah put his entry in the dash where he finished ninth, putting him in the fifth row for the feature event.

Lining up in the ninth spot, Darrah stayed in the ninth spot during the early portion of the race as he slowly began working his way forward.

Toward the halfway point, Darrah got his Kasey Kahne Racing machine working very well on the cushion as he began rocketing around some of the biggest names in the sport as he charged up the second spot as the race ended.

“Our car was awesome tonight,” Darrah explained. “It was awesome on the cushion, and I’m pretty pumped to get a second for all of my guys- they truly work their butts off for me.”

Immediately after the race, Darrah hurried to the airport as he was off to his native Pennsylvania to take part in two events during PA Speedweek.

Climbing back aboard the JK Salvage/Eichelberger U Pull It No.89, Darrah’s first stop in PA would be at the Hagerstown Speedway.

Lining up on the front row alongside Keith Kaufmann, Darrah fell back into the second spot as Kaufman rocketed away.

Darrah and Lance Dewease would battle for the second spot early, with Dewease using a monster run down the backstretch to get past Darrah and put him in the third spot.

As the track began taking rubber, Darrah would remain in the third spot, but him and Dewease would begin reeling in Kauffman.

At the stripe Darrah would hold on to the third spot.”

“It’s fun getting back and racing the family car in Pennsylvania,” said Darrah. “I thought we had a good shot to win, but two of the best is PA showed us the way tonight.”

Thursday night Cody remained in PA and traveled to the Williams Grove Speedway for his last night of speedweek action.

Lining up for the A in the ninth spot, Darrah had worked his way up to the fifth spot as him and Stevie Smith hooked up in an entertaining battle with just five to go, but Darrah got his right rear tire over the cushion and flipped over.

“We were plenty fast on Thursday, but me and Stevie Smith got racing, and I just hopped the cushion, and that sent us upside down.”

Hopping on a plane following Williams Grove, Darrah met back up with his KKR team in Wisconsin for a pair of World of Outlaw races.

Timing in 16th quick at the Cedar Lake Speedway, Darrah got through his heat and lined up in the 17th spot.

Darrah put together a very strong feature event as he worked his way up to the sixth spot, only to lose brakes at the end of the feature and slip back to the 11th spot.

“It got tough once we lost our brakes,” said Darrah. “We had a great car that we took from 17th all the way up to sixth, I just wish we would have been able to hold on to a top five.”

Saturday night Darrah’s busy week came to an end as he picked up a fifth place finish at the Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI.

After struggling in the dash, Darrah charged from his ninth starting spot as he raced his way to his ninth top five of the year with the World of Outlaws.

“The last few weeks we have been really strong,” said Darrah. “This week was awesome, We were a top five car every time we hit the track which is a good feeling.”

ON TAP- Cody and his KKR team will be in action for three nights of action in the state of Ohio as they are set for the Brad Doty Classic in Lima on Wednesday before Kings Royal weekend at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg.
