Craig Dollansky and the World of Outlaws wrapped up a weekend of racing in ‘The Badger State’ on Saturday as they took on Beaver Dam Raceway where ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ has an excellent track record of finishing fourth or better in 10 of the past 13 visits. The event also marked the 3rd Annual ‘JB’ Memorial which honored Jim Boyd, a great friend and supporter of the Big Game Treestands #7 team.
After posting the fastest time in hotlaps, the Elk River, Minnesota driver backed up the strong time in qualifying by rocketing around the 1/3-mile in 12.813 seconds, good enough for 2nd fastest of the 29 cars. Heat race competition put the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim in row two and finished 3rd to transfer into the dash. In the 8-lap dash race to set the lineup for the main event, Dollansky lined up inside row three and finished 5th.
When the green flag waved on the 40-lap A-Main, the MobileStar #7 motored into fourth by the exit of turn two but ran fifth before a caution with one lap complete. Following another caution on the restart, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ used a great ensuing restart to claim the runner-up spot before the final yellow on the third circuit. With the preferred line around the bottom in turn 4, Dollansky lined up on the outside for the double-file restart and lost two spots. In the remaining laps the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products sprinter narrowed the gap on third but crossed the finish line in 4th.
“We started the night out getting qualified well and continued to try keep up with the track which seemed to change pretty quick,” commented Dollansky. “We weren’t too bad through the dash and come A-Main we had a top-five car. The track changed quite a bit and there were a couple of things we would have liked to do different with the car. Jim was a great guy and I was fortunate to know him and hope we will some day win the Jim Boyd Memorial race.”
The Big Game Treestands #7 team now travels to Ohio for three events beginning on Wednesday with the Brad Doty Classic at Limaland Motorsports Park.
