(Strongstown, PA)…Despite dodging the rain all afternoon long on Sunday, sunshine graced Dog Hollow Speedway, but clouds started rolling in and rain showers hit around 6 p.m. After waiting for approximately an hour, the rain continued and with more on the way the decision was made to utilize next Sunday’s (July 22) rain date. The second annual Connor Bobik Memorial presented by Townsend Gas & Oil will again include the “410” Sprints, ULMS Super Late Models, and FASTRAK Late Models. Race time is set for 7:30 p.m.
A great field of “410” Sprint Cars had already gathered far surpassing last year’s count. A full field of the winged warriors was present with race time still an hour and half away featuring cars from all other the commonwealth along with Ohio and Australia. Central Pa. standout Logan Schuchart, grandson to the great Bobby Allen, was on hand. Schuchart already has two victories this season at Williams Grove Speedway including an All Star win and was returning home from competing at the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway.
Other central Pa. racers like Lincoln Speedway winner Billy Dietrich, Johnny and Hunter Mackison, Bob Howard, Daryl Stimeling, Scott Lutz and other were prepared to take on western Pa’s best like last year’s winner Rod George, All Star victors Danny Holtgraver and Brandon Matus, Saturday’s Sharon non-wing winner Jack Sodeman, Jr., last year’s Lernerville champion Carl Bowser, current Lernerville point leader Kevin Schaeffer, Andy McKisson, Dan Shetler, and more. Australian Marty Perovich was back for the second straight year.

An open tire rule will again be in effect for the “410” events. Mufflers will not be required. There is no weight rule. RACEceievers are required; default channel. Drivers will draw pills to determine the heat race lineups with a redraw depending on the number of cars. A drivers meeting will be held at 6:45 p.m. with pill cutoff after. Hot laps are slated for 7 p.m. with racing at 7:30. There is no entry fee for the Sprints. For more information on the Sprints call Mike Leone at 724-967-2363.
