Beaver Dam, WI; July 31, 2012: After three consecutive double header weekends, the teams of the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will be presenting a single show this coming weekend.
The event will take place on Saturday evening August 4th at the Beaver Dam Raceway.
It will mark the series third appearance of the season at the banked third-mile clay oval. Bill Balog, the current point leader and defending champion took home top honors in the May 19th event held at the track, while Mike Kertscher edged out Mike Reinke for the victory at the most recent event at the track held on June 16th, that feature race provided fans with one of the closest finishes of the season as Kertscher won the race by less than three feet.
Since the last appearance at Beaver Dam Raceway, Balog has been on a roll capturing six of the last eight main events and extending his point lead in pursuit of a fifth straight series title. Balog has racked up 2555 points, while his nearest challenge Reinke has amassed 2459 points.
Reinke’s strength has been his ability to finish races, he has only one DNF on the season and has finished all the other feature races in the top 10. That consistency has kept him within striking distance of the 2012 series title. Reinke has also captured a feature victory this year topping of the sprint car portion of Cedar Lake Speedway’s Triple Crown.
Both drivers will be bringing the point battle to Beaver Dam Raceway this Saturday night.
You can also expect some serious competition from Scott Neitzel who spent this past weekend in the thick of the battle for the win, he lead much of the contest at the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series debut at St. Croix Valley Speedway. Neitzel came out of the past weekend with two podium finishes taking second at St. Croix Valley and third at ABC Raceway.
Neitzel ranks third in the current standings with 2267 points.
Several other competitors are coming off this past weekend with their strongest runs of the 2012 season as Russel Borland, Darrell Dodd and Wayne Modjeski finished third through fifth respectively at St. Croix Valley Speedway. The performance for Borland was his first career podium finish which he is sure to add to in coming events.
One can also expect Kertscher, winner of the most recent Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Series event at Beaver Dam Raceway to be in the thick of the chase. His flat-out driving style pushes him to the front of the pack whenever he appears on the track.
Other top drivers expected for this weekend include Phillip Mock, Kris Spitz, Bill Wirth, leading rookie Robbie Pribnow, Bill Warren, Dave and Scott Uttech, Brandon Thone, Tommy Sexton and Darrell Dodd.
A full field of 900 horsepower open wheeled machines is expected for the show.
Joining the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will be Grand Nationals, Legends and Badger 600 Micro’s.
General Admission for the event will be $20.00 for adults while students ages 6 through 12 will be admitted for $10. Children 5 and under are FREE.
Pit gates will open at 3:30pm with the grandstands opening at 4:30pm. Racing is scheduled to start at 6:30pm.
