Danny Reidy has attributed his consistent start to the 2012–13 season to taking a lot more relaxed approach to his racing, and it’s starting to reap the rewards.
In his second appearance of the season – last Saturday night’s second round of the KRE Sprintcar Series at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway – Reidy scored a hard-fought second-place finish.
After going into the top-six dash as the highest point scorer (by virtue of a second in time trials and a pair of fourth place finishes in his heat races) – where he drew position four and finished fifth due to unsuccessfully trying the top of the track in the six-lap event – the NQ # 5 Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs supported J&J driver battled hard throughout the 30-lap feature race and was rewarded with a second-place finish.
“I ended up coming good in the end, as I was trying every which way to move forward and eventually got it going on the top of the track,” explained Reidy, who had only moved into second on the final lap after executing an outside pass. “There was a late stoppage and that helped me and I was pleased with where I ended.”
Reidy’s two performances – fifth and second – in the opening rounds of the KRE Series have been credited to feeling less pressure and, actually, enjoying his racing a lot more.
“In past seasons I’ve had the World Series Championship to prepare for, but now we don’t, it’s creating a lot less pressure for me and my racing is benefiting from it,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season and the goal is to try and maintain my consistent form.”
The third round of the KRE Series at Archerfield Speedway on Saturday night, October 27 will be Reidy’s next scheduled appearance.
Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs, Camden Neon Signs, P&M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all of their 2012–13 season support.
