Filling in for Tommy Tarlton, Jason Meyers made his first 410 start in his native California since march, and first since the Knoxville Nationals, and scored a second place finish at the Cotton Classic on Saturday night.

Meyer’s night started off by timing in his Corporate Lending America/Tachi Palace and Casino/Sharp Insurance No.21m machine in 16th fastest, making him the last car to make the inversion, earning him a front row starting spot.

Start out of the second position in heat four, the two-time defending World of Outlaws champion got the jump over Tyler Wolfe, and proceeded to pick up the heat win, putting him in the night’s dash.

Following the pill draw on the front stretch, the hometown favorite found himself holding the one pill, putting the BG Lubricants/K&N Products/Bandy and Associates entry on the pole, looking to be in the same position for the 30-lap feature.

The initial start was waived off, and it was deemed that Meyers was on the throttle too early and he was sent back to the second row. Meyers would hold strong as he finished in the third spot, ultimately lining his Tarlton and Son entry up in the second row for the feature event.

The early stages of the race were slowed by numerous cautions, as Meyers found himself in the third spot as he chased down Tim Kaeding and Kyle Larson.

When the race finally go into long green flag runs, the lead duo checked out and Meyers held his own in the third spot as he raced with Kyle Hirst and 2013 King of the West champion, Jonathan Allard.

With two laps remaining in the feature, the caution waved, bunching the field up for a two lap shoot out.

Race leader, Kyle Larson, ran out of fuel, and Meyers capitalized and was able to advance to the second spot as the checkered flag waved, giving him his second consecutive runner up finish at his home track.

“I can’t say enough about this Tarlton Racing team,” Meyers said. “We have had speed whenever I have climbed into one of their cars, and tonight was no different. We have Trophy Cup this weekend, and I can’t wait to get back to Tulare.”

Tarlton Racing would like to thank Corporate Lending America, Tachi Palace and Casino, Sharp Insurance, Bandy and Associates, Pro Signs, BG Lubricants, K&N Products, All Star Performance and Astro Titanium for their continued support.
