A pair of Top-five finishes in her opening two Wingless Sprint race meetings has been a pleasing start to the 2012–13 season for Mikayla Hein.
In what is her second Wingless Sprint season, the current Australia # 4 has run her first two race meetings at Speedway City in Adelaide, South Australia, and the 18-year-old has made a consistent start to the new season.
A fortnight ago, she made her season debut with a third and a fifth in her heat races and then drove to a fourth place finish in the feature race. The following weekend, she finished eighth and first in her two heat races and then moved from her fifth starting position to finish on the podium in third place. In the latter event, she was running second until a mistake on the last corner of the final lap saw her Atkins Motorsport team mate, Cody Atkins, move by and Hein finished back in third. The event was won by Hein’s boyfriend, Joel Chadwick.
“I’m very happy with the start I’ve made to the season, and I’m hoping to continue to be consistent for the rest of the season,” expressed the SA # 55 All States Auditing & Accreditation Services supported Eagle driver. “The plans for this season are to contest all of the race meetings in South Australia, along with the Australian Title in February at Premier Speedway in Victoria. This is my second season and I’m looking forward to continuing to gain more experience and enjoying the whole process.”
This Saturday night (November 10) Hein will make her debut for the season at her home track, Murray Bridge Speedway.
Special thanks to Robin and Cody Atkins from Atkins Motorsport, along with her Mum and Dad, Pop, Michael and David for all of their ongoing support.
