Netto Struggles in Merced

PETERSEN MEDIA

Continuing to gain seat time with his 410 engine, and take on the best in the world, DJ Netto struggled to gain ground on Friday night, during his first trip to the Merced Speedway in Merced, CA.

“It was a tricky track, and we could not seem to do anything right,” Netto said.

Making his debut at undoubtedly the smallest track he has visited in his young sprint car career, Netto timed his Netto Agriculture/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts entry in with the 30th quickest qualifying lap of the evening, putting him in a large hole.

Netto’s long night continued in his heat race where he started 10th, and finished 10th, putting him in the night’s Last Chance Showdown.

“We struggled with finding a balance with our car, and we started in the back, and the track was hard enough to pass on, we didn’t do ourselves any favors,” he said.

Watching the remaining heat race, and studying the track, Netto and the rest of his Netto Racing team worked on the Vande Pol Enterprises/BR Motorsports machine for the LCS, hoping the youngster could make a charge towards a transfer spot.

When the LCS hit the track, Netto was still off, as he couldn’t seem to keep his car under him, as he tried to hit his marks on the bottom, like the rest of the field.

Starting 12th in the race, Netto would stay in the rear, as he finished in the 12th spot ending his night.

“I would of hoped we could be a little more competitive, but it is all part of the learning process. My team is working very hard, and I’m hoping all of the experience with the Outlaws, helps us during the rest of our season.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, Vande Pol Enterprises, and BR Motorsports for their support in 2013.
