ESS Heads to Selinsgrove

Syracuse, NY – (April 3, 2013) –It’s been a long off-season since the annual awards banquet in November of 2012. But, the stars and cars of the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) are ready to take to the track and what better way to showcase 30 years of tradition than the tradition filled sprint car hot bed of Central Pa. and the Selinsgrove Speedway.

 

The Mach 1 Chassis Spring Challenge that pits the best of the 360’s vs. the best of the Selinsgrove 358’s where $3,000 awaits the winner from the $15,000 purse that has been set up.

 

Many of the ESS faithful will be heading south to take on the fast half-mile in preparation for the full point event that will be held on May 18th which will also pay $3,000 to win thanks to Mach 1 Chassis.

 

“This will be a perfect tune up for our event on May 18th.” noted ESS President Chuck Miller. “For many of our teams this will be the first time they will see Selinsgrove so it will a good way to some feel for the half-mile. Also, for many, it will be a great way to get their cars dialed in so they are ready when the point season kicks off at Can-Am.”

 

Some of the Lucas Oil gang that will be at Selinsgrove will be Lance Yonge, Steve Poirier, Michael Parent, Matt Tanner, Patrick Vigneault, Kevin Ward Jr. and rookie Jordan Thomas.  Some drivers that will see a good portion of ESS action on 2013 and are heading down include Steve Collins, Dylan Swiernik, Scott Kreutter and Todd Hoddick. Defending champion Chuck Hebing (work) and Paul Kinney (Motor) have the race penciled in but will be race time decisions.

 

To add some spice to the event, many top 360 stars from the Northeast will also be in the field which includes Selinsgrove champion Pat Cannon and Mach 1 builder himself Mark Smith.  Also expected will be defending URC champion Robbie Stillwaggon, Dave Ely, Josh Weller, Mark Bitner, Davey Franek, North Carolina’s Eric Riggins Jr. and Michigan’s Ryan Ruhl.

 

A nice $3,000 pay day is awaiting the victor of the event with $1,500, $1,200, $1,100 and $1,000 set for the top five with $250 just to take the green.

 

The Spring Challenge kicks off the celebration of the 30th Anniversary Tour which boasts 28 dates at 18 different speedways in two states and two provinces of Canada.

 

April 6th is the date, the famed Selinsgrove Speedway is the site… Lucas Oil ESS stars and many more will make the event excitement guaranteed!!
