With a nightmarish start to his 2013 Rebel Cup Series season behind him, Steven Tiner score a fourth place finish Saturday night in Tulare, CA.
With an unfortunate light field of cars assembled in the pit area, Tiner opened his night up by timing the Western Metal/KPC entry in fourth fastest and went on to score a third place finish in his heat.
Still struggling to like the feel of his car, Tiner and team went to work, and changed brake calipers on their Wilwood break system, that did improve Tiner’s feel for the car.
Starting fourth in the feature event on the bone-slick surface, Tiner quickly went top shelf in his machine, as he still didn’t quite look comfortable.
“We struggled to get any forward out of the car, which made it tough to drive on such a slick track,” he said.
Continuing to pound the cushion, Tiner focused on making smooth laps, and getting a full 30-laps in.
“With the way we had been going, I was just hoping we could get a complete night in,” he added.
In the fourth spot during the entire feature, Tiner was successful in finishing the race, and scored his first top five of the season to boot.
“I could of pushed it a little harder, I think,” he said. “We have been playing with some stuff, and I just wanted to finish so we have something to work from.”
Stever and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, Elma Lanes, Larry Davis Farms, Wright Processing Systems, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, Dan Olson Race Prodcuts, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Good Ridge, Schoenfeld, Western Metal Company, and Roseville Precision for their support in 2013.
