Motoring to Another Top-Ten at Tri-State

 From Reid VanEck

Tri-State Speedway has been great to Craig Dollansky.  In nine appearances dating back to 2004, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ hasn’t finished outside the top-ten and has compiled an outstanding 4 victories to go along with 6 top-fives.  With the STP World of Outlaws back in action Saturday at the ¼-mile bullring, the pilot of the Eyecon Trail Cameras backed sprinter also entered the event as the defending winner last April.

As a great field of 39 drivers signed in for battle in Haubstadt, Indiana, Dollansky was a bit off in qualifying after a late draw stopping the clock 18th fastest at 12.489 seconds.  Taking the green from inside row three of heat two at the short track, the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim took third in the early going and closed on runner-up Kerry Madsen.  With a spot in the dash on the line, Madsen worked the lowside and Dollansky ran the top with the #29 just holding off the #7 when the checkered flag waved on the 10-lap event.

In the 40-lap A-Main the MobileStar #7 started outside row nine.  Working the lowside in the early stages of the feature, Dollansky advanced three spots before the first caution on lap 4.  Following another yellow on the ensuing restart, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ gained three more positions and then battled for ninth before taking the spot shortly after the halfway point when the red flag waved for an accident on lap 24.

After another yellow one lap later, the final fifteen circuits when green-to-checkered as Dollansky continued to work the top shelf running eighth.  With action all over the ¼-mile track and the laps winding down, the Elk River, Minnesota native closed on Steve Kinser in the final handful of laps but couldn’t get around the #11 and wound up losing a spot to Kraig Kinser finishing with a top-ten in 9th.

The Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team returns to action this coming Friday at Salina Highbanks in Salina, Oklahoma.
