In action at the high-banked Eldora Speedway for the weekend, Tim Kaeding and his Roth Motorsports looked to keep up to their strong start to the season, however it wasn’t in the cards as they were behind the eight-ball all weekend.
Kicking the weekend off on Friday night, TK timed his Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle backed entry in 14th quickest, putting him on the front row for his heat race.
Starting on the pole of his heat, the San Jose, CA wheel-man slipped into the second spot behind Tim Shaffer, as he worked the middle of the historic ½ mile.
A second place finish put TK in the feature, and the Dash where he lined up in the last row of the six-lap shoot out.
Falling back to the 10th spot on the initial lap, TK felt something wrong with the engine, and pulled his machine into the pit area, and was credited with a 10th place finish.
Lining up for the feature in the 10th spot, TK took the green flag, and pulled back into the pit area, as the engine still was not to his liking, and he was scored 24th.
“We had a vibration, that we could not figure out all night, “ Kaeding said. “We haven’t really had any issues with our engine program all year, so it’s unfortunate it happened here.
Working through the day on Saturday, TK and team were back in action on Saturday night, and TK’s early pill draw came back to haunt him as he wound up 23rd fastest aboard his Mobil1/FK Rod Ends/Weld Wheels machine.
Starting and finishing sixth in his heat, TK was forced to go through the LCQ for a final shot at making the feature.
Lining up in the second row, TK got to the third spot, as he pounded the top of the Eldora Speedway, looking to make his way into the feature event.
His third place finish put him in the show, but he was scheduled to start the feature in the 11th row.
Starting 22nd for 30-laps around the Eldora Speedway, TK still didn’t’ seem to have the speed he had hoped for, as he clawed his way to a sixteenth finish when the race came to a close.
“I love this place, and wish we could have ran a little better,” he said. “My guys worked their tails off all weekend to get us faster, but we are bound to have an off weekend here and there. We will put this behind us, and look forward to Elko and Knoxville.”
Tim and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2013.
