The most important lap to lead in racing is the last one, and that is exactly the only one Tim Kaeding led on Friday night, as he charged from 13th to win his fourth World of Outlaw feature event on Friday night in Elko, MN.

“It doesn’t matter how long the race is, as long as you lead the last lap, and take home the trophy, that is all that matters,” TK said. “Troy Welty and my guys gave me a great car in the feature, and we were able to get another win for Dennis and Teresa Roth.”

On the paved track that was covered in dirt for this special night, TK rolled off for the scheduled 40-lap feature event in the seventh row.

On what was a very racy track that had two grooves, Kaeding found the top-shelf to his liking as he had his Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle backed entry glued to the cushion as he picked off cars at will.

“The bottom was good, and started to take rubber, but were really strong up top, and could really make up ground and gain spots,” he explained.

Working into the top three around the 15th lap, TK set his sights on a dueling Craig Dollansky and Kerry Madsen, as the duo fought for the lead in front of the San Jose, CA ‘hotshoe’.

Moving into second on the 30th marker, TK eyed Madsen, and drove around the leader on the 34th lap, and secured the lead as the red flag flew.

Under red, the skies opened, and rains began to fall, and the race was called 6-laps from the finish, and TK was the winner.

“Evidently Mother Nature had seen enough, and wanted to race to be over,” Kaeding said. “We were awesome in the feature, and it is very cool to win an Outlaw race from that far back.”

Moving to the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night, TK looked to pick up another victory on a track he has had success on, and kicked his night of by timing in 11th fastest.

Starting on the front row of his heat, TK scored a second place finish, and wound up starting on the pole of the dash.

A second place finish in the dash put Kaeding and his Roth Motorsports team on the front row for the feature event.

When the race got underway, TK slipped back to the fourth spot, as he did not get off to the start he had hoped.

Working in the fourth spot for much of the race, contact was made with a lapped car in the feature, and Kaeding blew a left rear tire, ending his night, as he was credited with a 21st place finish.

“We were easily a top-five car at Knoxville,” he said. “Though we didn’t get the finish we wanted, they knew we were here, and this Roth Motorsports team is on a roll right now.”

Tim and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2013.
