LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (May 14, 2013) – The NAPA Auto Parts Rumble in Michigan is the only opportunity for fans to see the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series in Michigan.
Returning to the half-mile configuration at I-96 Speedway, the fast dirt track hosts the premier sprint car series on Saturday, June 1, for the seventh straight year and ninth time in the past decade.
“There’s a lot of fans in that part of the country and that event seems to always have a great turnout,” said Craig Dollansky, a two-time winner who claimed last season’s event. “We’ll be looking forward to going back.”
While Dollansky has picked up two wins in the dozen World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series races at I-96 Speedway, Steve Kinser leads the way with four victories. Jason Meyers recorded two wins and Sammy Swindell, Joey Saldana, Stevie Smith and Jason Sides have also won.
“We went good there one time and had the confidence every time we went back,” said Sides, the 2011 winner who has earned a podium finish in each of the last three races at I-96 Speedway. “I always liked the smaller tracks, but here lately I’ve got to where the bigger tracks are more raceable. The bigger tracks seem a little easier and more forgiving.”
The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series has competed on both half-mile and 3/8-mile configurations, with last year being on the smaller track.
“For me, I think there’s been some great racing on the half mile and the short track,” Dollansky said. “Whatever we’ve got there, it’s been a track that has been good to me.”
