SPRINT CAR LEGEND BRAD DOTY TO SERVE AS GRAND MARSHALL AT CALISTOGA

ROSEVILLE, CA – (MAY 16, 2013)…National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee Brad Doty will serve as the 2013 Grand Marshall for the upcoming Calistoga Speedway Hall of Fame Dinner on Friday night, August 30th, starting at 6:30 PM.  The Hall of Fame dinner will take place at the Tubbs Building located on the Napa County Fairgrounds.  Calistoga Speedway track historian and veteran SPEED TV announcer Bobby Gerould will handle the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.  The ceremony is open to the public and tickets are $30.00 per person.

This year’s new Calistoga Hall of Fame Inductees include Johnny Anderson, Mike Andreetta, Hank Butcher, Mel Fernandez, Hank Hanestad, George Hawkins, Mike McGreevy, Walt Ross and Lem Tolliver.  We invite all of you to join Bobby Gerould, Brad Doty and the Inductees family and friends in what surely will be an emotion packed ceremony to honor an elite group of individuals responsible for Calistoga Speedways rich history. 

 

Brad Doty is the man behind the book “Still Wide Open” that was co-authored by award winning journalist Dave Argabright.  The book chronicles Doty’s rise to the top of sprint car racing before his tragic accident at Eldora Speedway in 1988 that left him paralyzed from the waist down.  In 1992 Doty received a phone call from Slick 50 Sprint Car World Series television producer Pat Patterson who offered him a job as an analyst during the live broadcasts.  After some hesitation, Doty accepted the position.  Since 1992, Doty has been the one constant face during World of Outlaw sprint car races on television.  Subsequently, he has been an ambassador for all kinds of sprint car racing and won awards including being named the Nation Sprint Car Poll’s “Media Member of the Year” on numerous occasions.
