Tiner Third at Hooker Hood Classic

Steven Tiner spent his weekend at the Riverside International Speedway competing in the Hooker Hood Classic aboard a replica tribute car for the sprint car legend, and scored a third place finish.

“I have to thank everyone who made this deal possible,” Tiner said. “The car was an old 1995 non down tube car that Wade Oliver built, and we got it rolling pretty good on Saturday.”

Starting his heat in the  second spot, Tiner got the jump and raced the ‘Tennessee Tornado’ No.99 to a heat race win, putting it in the second row of the feature event.

With Tim Crawley out front, Tiner was able to work his way up to the second spot, where he chased after Crawley in lapped traffic.

Keeping Crawley within striking distance, Tiner brought the crowd to their feet as he pulled up alongside him, and challenged for the lead.

With a brake issue plaguing him during the feature, Tiner lost the handle as he pressured Crawley, and did two 360’s, but was able to keep the car under power, though he slipped back to the eighth spot.

Knowing the importance of the race, and the importance of the car he was in, Tiner again surged toward the front, as he found himself back up to the fourth spot, as the white flag waved.

Getting past Marshall Skinner on the last lap, Tiner would end his Hooker Hood Classic with a third place finish.

“I had a blast, and love getting back to the ditch to race,” he said. “It’s great getting down here to see all the friends I made when I raced out here a number of years ago.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, Elma Lanes, Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, Dan Olson Race Prodcuts, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Good Ridge, Schoenfeld, Western Metal Company, and Roseville Precision for their support in 2013.
