Cunningham is California Dreaming

PETERSEN MEDIA

Kyneton, Victoria, Australia driver, Michael Cunningham is set excited to announce his plans to compete in a winged sprint car in the United States for the first time in his career.

“I am very excited to get back to the United States,” said Cunningham, who was born in Pennsylvania before moving to Australia at the age of four. “I have heard the competition is great, and I’m looking forward to learning a few things.”

Arriving on July 1st, Cunningham will be in Sacramento, CA until August 14th, and plans on hitting races with the King of the West Series, as well as a few local races at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA.

Relatively new to the scene of Sprint Car racing, Cunningham first climbed behind the wheel of a 410ci machine late in 2010.

During the 2012/2013 Australian season, Cunningham played car owner to Kyle Hirst in a handful of events down under, and worked with long-time crew chief, Rod Tiner.

“I had a great time with Rod Tiner and Kyle Hirst when they were down here in Australia in Januray, and I am looking forward to getting to California, and working with them again,” he said. “With our season being over currently, and me being essentially a rookie,  I’m hoping I can learn a few things competing in California that will help me be competitive during the Australian season.”

Cunningham also has ties to A.R.T. Speed Equipment, as his company, PRP Engineering, became the first dealer of A.R.T. Chassis down under in December.

“A.R.T. Chassis are some of the finest and best crafted cars in the market today, and I have really enjoyed working with them,” he said. “I’m excited to see the shop, and take everything in.”

Currently, Hirst and Tiner are working away on Cunnigham’s PRP/A.R.T machine waiting his arrival.

Michael and his Cunningham Racing team would like to thank PRP Engineering, and A.R.T. Speed Equipment for their support.
