With the Knoxville Nationals on the horizon, Jonathan Allard leaves California with the utmost confidence, as he tallied his 13th with in 2013 on Friday night, and was well on his way to his 14th, when he lost an engine with under 10-laps to go on Saturday.
“This Williams Motorsports team is hitting on all cylinders right now, and a large part of that is all of the companies that supply us with great part,” Allard said. “We have been fast every night out the last month, and it has been a fun ride.”
In action at the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night Allard kicked his night off by timing in second quickest to Andy Forsberg, putting him in the second heat race, where he charged to a second place finish.
With the ‘0’ pill being pulled for the invert, Allard found himself on the front row with Forsberg, and ran in the second spot for the first 12 laps.
On lap 13, JA turned it on, and got around Forsberg, and set sail, as he felt pressure from Sean Becker late in the feature.
Allard would fend of ‘The Shark’ and score the popular win at his home track.
“Racing with Andy Forsberg and Sean Becker is always fun,” he said. “They are two of the best at the Silver Dollar Speedway, and to beat them is no easy task.”
Saturday night, Allard was at the Stockton-99 Speedway in Stockton, CA for a round of action with the King of the West Series.
With 25 cars on hand, Allard timed in fourth quick, and went on to win the heat in convincing fashion, putting his machine in the dash.
Pulling the four pill for the dash, Allard would score a second place finish on the extremely fast and hooked up track, putting him on the front row of the feature alongside Willie Croft.
The initial start as waived off as Croft got upside down, and Allard now shared the front row with Dominic Scelzi.
The start saw Scelzi grab the top spot, but Allard charged around him on the second lap, and began to set a torrid pace for the first nine laps, with Scelzi hot on his tail.
On the 9th lap, the red waived, and the field bunched up for a double file restart, that saw Allard get the jump and continue to lead.
In command of the feature, JA’s night came to an abrupt halt, as he expired an engine on the 21st lap, and his night was over.
“It wasn’t the night we wanted, but what a huge momentum boost for us to head back to Knoxville with,” he said. “We have a great team, and we have a fresh bullet to run at the Nationals, and we are excited to test ourselves against the best.”
