GREENWOOD, Neb. (Sept. 24, 2013) – Jack Dover doesn’t have any glamorous plans for the $20,000 bonus he earned last weekend for sweeping the 2nd annual Midwest Fall Brawl sponsored by Home Pride Companies, Inc.

“Parts,” he said. “Stock up on parts.”

There is an added pep in his step after winning both of his heat races and the features during the ASCS Midwest Region two-day event last Friday and Saturday at I-80 Speedway, which paid $2,500 to win each night and gave a $20,000 Durst Motorplex/ZOZ Farms Double Down Back-to-Back Challenge bonus if a driver claimed both main events.

Dover did that and more, leading almost every lap he was on the track all weekend en route to wrapping up his third consecutive ASCS Midwest Region championship and his fourth title since 2008.

“Luck was on our side this weekend,” he said. “We drew good both nights. I think the drawing all week was all of our luck. It was a great event and I really look forward to it next year. A big thanks goes to Phil Durst, Matt Zoz and Alan DeHaai for everything they did.

“But it all started during the week when Chris Moss of Moss Racing Engines came out to the shop and helped rebuild my Ford engines. We actually changed quite a bit of stuff on the engines and it was a night and day difference. Jim Roberts of Roberts Racing Engines and Mike Daly of Daly’s Machine Shop also played a pivotal role with helping get everything ready as did Greg and the guys at Kinsler Fuel Injection for a quick response in tuning the fuel system.”

Once Dover showed up at the track it didn’t take him long to find the lead. He rocketed from fourth to the top spot during the opening lap of his heat race on Friday. He led all eight laps and advanced to the feature redraw as the high-points driver.

Dover pulled the No. 4 during the random draw to line up on the outside of the second row for the main event, but he quickly worked toward the lead.

“I didn’t really change much for the feature,” he said. “I was battling with (Danny) Lasoski for four laps and took the lead and never looked back. Normally I can’t run the bottom at that track. Friday night the top side was really good in turns one and two and the bottom in turns three and four so that’s where I was running.”

Dover took the top spot on Lap 4 and cruised to the opening-night victory, setting up a chance at his biggest payday as a sprint car driver if he could finish the sweep on Saturday.

“Just go through the car really good, making sure every bolt is tight and pretend like it’s another race,” Dover said of his mindset. “Right before the feature I started getting butterflies in my stomach. I’ve never gotten that the whole time I’ve raced in 13 years. There was a lot of money on the line. I just kept telling myself not to overthink it.”

On Saturday, after advancing from second place to lead all eight laps and win his heat race, Dover got the No. 1 in the feature redraw to start the 25-lap feature on the pole.

“I pretty much did the same setup as the night before, just tightened it up a bit more,” he said. “I never saw one car the whole time. About halfway through we got into traffic. I was doing good and not having problems.”

Dover powered to the prestigious victory – his 14th of the season – to earn the top prize.

The two wins during the weekend also gave him six victories in the 12 ASCS Midwest Region events this season.
