Wheatland, MO(September 29, 2013)-After sweeping the opening night of the Hockett/McMillin Memorial, Dustin Morgan was again victorious Sunday night at Lucas Oil Speedway with the WAR Series presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.
Derek Hagar moved into the lead from his second row starting spot at the start as he was followed by Austin Alumbaugh and Morgan.
Hagar would lead the first four laps as Morgan made his way past Alumbaugh. On lap five, Morgan used the extreme high side of the raceway to get by Hagar in turn four. Over the next dozen laps, Morgan set a torrid pace as he was followed by Hagar, Alumbaugh, Chris Morgan, and Casey Shuman.
The race’s first yellow would come out on lap seventeen for a Will Register spin. On the attempted restart, Taylor Walton slid off the track in turn two and came to a stop ending his evening. There would be two more laps completed before action was stopped for a John Helm spin in turn three.
Morgan would go on to his second victory of the weekend with Hagar running a solid second. Shuman would work his way past Alumbaugh on the final lap for third with Chris Morgan rounding out the top five. Tim Crawley was sixth followed by Layne Himebaugh. Mitchell Moore, Helm, and Josh Stephens rounded out the top ten. Steven Cross was the Keizer Wheels hard charger moving up six spots to finish twelfth.
Hagar was the SBS Quick Time award winner while the Steve Watt Enterprises and Rod End Supply heat race winners were Stephens, Dustin Morgan, Shuman, and Crawley.
