Another huge car count of 62 sprinters signed into the ½-mile as qualifying saw Dollansky turn the 4th fastest lap of the evening at 17.448 seconds. Starting outside row two of heat four, the Aggressive Hydraulics backed entry closed on the runner-up spot in the 8-lap event but finished 3rd. Earning a spot in the dash by virtue of his strong qualifying efforts, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ started sixth in the dash and powered around three competitors finishing again in the 3rd position.
With $50,000 on the line, the #7 crew of DJ Lindsey, Sean Michael, Pete Stephens, and Luke Dollansky made final preparations for the 40-lap A-Main starting inside row two. Closing on the leaders in the opening laps of the main event, Dollansky powered around the highside taking second entering turn 1, but Rahmer pinned the #20S to the bottom to maintain the runner-up spot exiting turn 2. After a caution on lap 13, the MobileStar Maxim lost a position to Lance Dewease and raced back-and-forth with the #27 around the midway point. Following another caution on lap 25 prompted a red flag for a fuel stop, the Elk River, Minnesota native ran sixth but continued to battle as the laps wound down racing past Steve Buckwalter on the final lap to record a top-five finish in 5th.
“It was a solid night from qualifying all the way through to the feature for us,” commented the pilot of the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products #7. “With the field of cars there to get ourselves into the dash and gain a few spots for the A-Main was good. Our car was pretty decent in the dash but it seemed like it got too tight in the feature and I wasn’t able to carry as much entry speed into the corners. We ended up losing a couple of spots but it still was a great run finishing 5th.”
The Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team will now travel to Elbridge, New York for racing at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park this coming Saturday, October 12th.
