-Brad McCown of “The Atomic Speedway” has announced that longtime racing publicist Scott Wolfe will return to the Atomic Speedway team as “The Official Voice of Atomic Speedway”. Wolfe will also do pre- and post-race write-ups and publicity, where he had previously served since 1988.
Wolfe was the Racing Director for the 2011 racing season at the fast 3/8 mile speed-plant at Alma. Jeremy Linkous will continue in that capacity at the fast 3/8 mile oval.
“We are thrilled to have Scott step up and make a return to our team,” said owner Brad McCown.
“And I am glad to be back,” Wolfe noted. “I grew up here, raced here, and even got married here. The place holds a very special place in my heart! I am looking forward to working with Brad and again becoming a part of the Atomic Speedway team. We are going to have a great year in 2014!”
Atomic Speedway will race every Saturday night beginning in March. Special events include several three-day shows and a host of Mega-Money races as well. A separate release highlighting the season will be forthcoming.
Wolfe was a late model driver for 30-plus years, and began a journalism career in auto racing in 1984. Wolfe will continue in the capacity of the Race Director and President of the American Motor Racing Association (AMRA), the body that sanctions Modifieds and Late Models at Atomic. Wolfe most recently was the publicist for Skyline Speedway and has previously done PR work for the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association, the AMRA, and West Virginia Motor Speedway.
Wolfe also writes for Three-Wide Publications, Dirt Late Model, Dirt Modified, and Flat-Out magazines, having written columns for many racing trade publications; and has been a contributing free-lance writer for both local newspapers and racing trade papers and magazines.
Bruce Hines returned as “The Voice of Atomic Speedway” for the grand-reopening season in 2013, but reports that he “would like to spend more time with the family and his grandchildren.”
“I would like to thank Bruce and Button Hines for their time and effort this past season,” said McCown. “You both will truly be missed by all.”
Work and family commitments have forced Hines to lighten his weekend schedules thus is the reason he is stepping down as the Announcer/PR person at Atomic.
Sprint car standout Josh Davis was recently named as Marketing Director of Atomic Speedway and has already begun work in securing sponsors and marketing the Atomic Speedway brand name.
