Elma, WA — (January 2, 2013) — This morning the Grays Harbor County Commissioners awarded the operations and promotions contract for Grays Harbor Raceway to Funtime Promotions of Burlington, Washington. Funtime Promotions is owned by Steve Beitler whose other interests include Skagit Speedway in Alger, WA.
Over the last 12 years, Beitler has rebuilt Skagit Speedway into a nationally recognized auto racing facility with his aggressive plan of renovations to the physical grounds and ambitiously promoted big races.
“Our team is ready to hit the ground running,” said Beitler this morning from his cell phone. “We are already in talks with travelling race series and teams to come race at Grays Harbor Raceway. Local race teams are the staple of our weekly shows and they are being contacted as well. We are talking with key people to join our professional staff of employees and the final 2014 racing schedule should be finalized soon. This is an awesome opportunity that the County Commissioners have graced us with and I am excited to build upon the past successes at one of the best dirt racing facilities in the country. We are working on a schedule now, it will be very similar to the traditional dates that Grays Harbor has run the last few years. It’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work!”
