Port Royal, PA — (January 22, 2014) — Port Royal Speedway and PRS Promotions has announced an exciting 2014 schedule of events at the Juniata County oval, set with its first date as the season opener on Saturday, March 15 featuring Aumiller’s Insurance 410 sprints and Gray’s Auto and Towing super late models at 6 pm.
The opener is predated by a test and tune session one week earlier, on March 8 from 1 – 4 pm, open to any division that is on the 2014 schedule of events.
A total of 30 race dates at Port Royal Speedway in 2014 will bring all the best sanctioning bodies available in the country through the gates of the historic half-mile to compete for throngs of fans in waiting.
Again this season the oval will highlight 410 super sprints and super late models on a regular basis, racing together on most nights along with intermittent competition for econo late models, xtreme stocks (formerly known as enduro dash) and 305 sprints.
The 410 sprints will race regularly for $3,000 to win while super late models will vie for $1,500.
Recently announced, the STP World of Outlaws sprint cars will put an end to what is sure to be a fantastic year at the revived oval with the tours first show at the track in a decade, coming up on October 25.
The UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints will again invade the oval on three occasions, for the lucrative Bob Weikert Memorial in late April and then again to cap off the annual Juniata County Fair with the running of the two-day Tuscarora 50 races on September 5 and 6.
New to the speedway this year will be the first-ever appearances by the NDRL – National Dirt Racing League Northeast Region super late models.
The NDRL circuit cars and stars will take center stage at the track twice in high-dollar, extra-distance shows, both times as the finale of two-day stints by the tour in the region.
The NDRL will race first on June 21 and again for the prestigious Butch Renninger Memorial on August 30 to open the Juniata County Fair.
Port Royal will host the finale of the 2014 Appalachian Mountain Dirt Late Model Speedweek Series, this year hitting on Monday, June 2, as the Charlie Grinestaff Memorial.
Other notable sprint car shows include the return of the wingless USAC sprint cars as part of the now annual Eastern Storm tour in June, a pair of Pennsylvania Speedweek shows in July and the Living Legends Dream Race in early August.
Also appearing during the season will be the ARDC Midgets, URC Sprints, All American Outlaws and 305 sprints.
The 2014 River Valley Builders 305 sprint series at the track will include 10 dates capped off by the third running of the Keystone RaceSaver 305 Sprint Blue Collar Classic weekend on October 10 and 11.
Popular promotions returning for another year include Kids Easter Night April 19, Free Student Night May 3, Mothers Night May 10, Pepsi Night May 24, Salute To The Military May 31, EMMR/Penn Central Reunion Night June 7, Kids Night July 12 and Fire/Rescue EMS Night July 26.
Four camera and autograph nights will be held, one each in April, May, June and August.
Fan Appreciation Night, offering adult general admission of JUST $10 for a regular show, is set for June 14.
New this year will be $1 hot dog night on April 5 and Motorcycle Night on August 9.
Also at the track in 2014 will be a pair of meets for the ITTPA – Interstate Truck and Tractor Pullers Association, on the speedway frontstretch coming up on June 28 and August 31.
The 2014 slate includes nearly 20 shows for the super late models and over 25 dates for the 410 sprints along with numerous shows for the newly created 355 econo-late model division, replacing the pro stocks in 2014.
Formerly called the “enduro dash” division, several races are also planned for the newly named xtreme stocks.
