“Last season was a year full of great experiences and excitement,” commented Garrett. “There was a lot of learning for myself and I plan to build on it this coming season. I am very honored to be racing for VanderEcken Motorsports driving the #10 car in the 2014 season. Together we will make it a season to race hard and accomplish all of our goals.”
Similar to Dollansky, Mike VanderEcken has also been involved with sprint car racing at a young age. Beginning at age 15, Mike worked on a sprint car until 1990 when he made the decision to further his involvement with the sport by starting his own team. Inducted into the Knoxville Raceway Hall of Fame in 2012, VanderEcken has enjoyed a lot of success over the years finishing third in points in his first season as owner and also making the prestigious Knoxville Nationals A-Main in 1995.
With 2014 marking his 25th year in racing, VanderEcken is excited about the upcoming season and knows how hungry Dollansky will be when the season begins April 19th.
“I’m very excited to work with Garrett this year. I had my eye on him last year and he kept improving every night and he also had quick time one night,” explained the 1997 Knoxville Car Owner of the Year. “I called Craig back in November to see what Garrett’s plans were and we put this deal together to run weekly at Knoxville. Although Garrett missed a couple of nights last year he still finished a very respectable 13th in points. My goals for this year are to finish in the top-five in points and to pick up a feature win.”
