With 33 cars on hand Friday night for an open show at The Stockton Dirt Track, Andy Gregg continued his hot start to the season as he fought his way forward to earn a third place finish at the finish line.
“This team has been awesome,” Gregg said. “I have to thank everyone that helped us out on Friday. It is tough with it being a week night show, but we had some people step up, and I cannot thank them enough.”
Timing his Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Capitol Ace Hardware/Thompson’s Auto Care No. 14R machine in second fastest, Gregg picked up a third place finish in his heat, and earned a spot in the Dash, where he finished fourth.
Lining up for the feature in the second row by-way of his Dash finish, Gregg got off to a great start as he jumped into the third spot as he chased after Trey Starks and Bud Kaeding.
On a track that was extremely different on both ends, Gregg’s machine seemed to be strong at both ends, as he fought with some of California’s best shoes.
With a couple of wild double file restarts late in the race, Gregg fought back and forth for fourth and fifth, before he was able to get moving back forward with just a few laps left.
With much of the top-five battling wheel-to-wheel, Gregg made a exciting pass that would net him a third place finish at the stripe behind race winner, Rico Abreu, and Trey Starks.
“It was a really fun race,” Gregg said. “There were some interesting things that happened on restarts, but we were right there all night, and I’m extremely excited for the start that we are off to.”

ON TAP: Gregg will be in action Friday and Saturday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway. Friday he will compete in the 360ci race before taking on the World of Outlaws Saturday night.
