  • Many of us miss the live video on DirtVision.com.  It was not that long ago that the idea of live audio from every World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series event was a novel concept.  With live video at several of the events to start the season including the season opening races at Volusia many hard core fans go through withdrawal when limited to only DirtVision audio.  The good news for fans is DirtVision has both days at Calistoga Speedway on the docket for this weekend for video.
  • Brownstown Speedway proved you can have a big paying non-wing sprint car show in Indiana and draw a large field of cars.  The secret is to pick a date early in the year and not go head to head against other race tracks.  All too often we see bigger non-wing shows in Indiana draw far fewer cars than expected because of all of the options teams have to go race elsewhere.  The No Way Out 40 will likely be one of the largest car counts of non-wing sprint cars seen in Indiana all season with 50 cars showing up on Saturday.  Starting next week Indiana sprint car division begins again with the USAC National Sprint Car Series opener at Lawrenceburg Speedway and the Indiana Racin’ Fest at Lincoln Park Speedway.
  • If conditions are right you can have passing at a daytime dirt track race.  Tyler Courtney went from 20th to four and Jordan Kinser raced 19th to fifth on Sunday at Brownstown Speedway during the No Way Out 40.
  • Gerard Mcintyre’s win on at Williams Grove Speedway is likely the first of many different faces that should visit victory lane in Central Pennsylvania in 2014.  With several larger teams with the area’s prominent drivers cutting back their schedules it creates an opportunity for other teams to take advantage of.   It would not surprise me to see who won at Williams Grove, Lincoln, or Port Royal and have to wonder for a moment who the person is.
  • Sometimes it doesn’t matter where you are at when it comes to being rained out.  This weekend featured 14 different rain outs from Pennsylvania to Australia.  Sunday was successful for some races that were originally scheduled for Saturday as Madera Speedway, 34 Raceway, and Brownstown all moved to day or evening shows to take advantage of better weather conditions.
