– KNOXVILLE, Iowa (April 30, 2014) – It didn’t take long for Big Game Motorsports driver Craig Dollansky to find Victory Lane with his new team.
Dollansky led all 20 laps last Saturday to pick up the win at Knoxville Raceway in only his third race of the season.
“I’m very encouraged,” he said. “The weekend before we had a significant vibration I was concerned about. Things are going well and we’re headed in the right direction.”
Dollansky opened the event by qualifying eighth quickest on the half-mile oval.
“We’re making some progress in that regard,” he said. “We don’t want to be qualifying eighth quick, but some of the things we’re working on will help that.”
Dollansky’s qualifying result started him on the outside of the second row in his heat race, which he finished with a third-place result to advance into the main event. The inversion for the feature was an eight to put the Big Game Treestands car on the pole.
“Obviously we had a good starting position, but that doesn’t guarantee you a win,” he said. “We had to take advantage of it.”
As the main event neared so did a storm. The drivers were rushed to get on the track before the rain hit.
“It was a bit of a rush getting ready for the feature,” he said. “Fortunately the rain held off. It actually rained a little bit a couple of times on the yellow flag. I’m sure glad that it held off.”
Dollansky maintained the top spot for the entire race and held off a couple of slide jobs attempts on restarts to pick up his 13th career win at Knoxville Raceway.
“There was some tight racing in turns one and two,” he said. “That was a great win for our entire Big Game Treestands team.”
Dollansky, who ranks eighth in the track standings after two races, will return to Knoxville Raceway this Saturday.
