– Jonathan Allard spent his weekend competing at his home track, Silver Dollar Speedway, and though he didn’t qualify well both nights, the Chico, CA driver put on a great display in two feature events, earning hard charger honors both Friday and Saturday as he score finishes of third and sixth place.
“It was a good weekend for our team,” Allard said. “We have been struggling lately, and I think now we have something we can build off of.”
Friday night saw Allard time the Tri-C /BR Motorsports/King Racing Products entry in seventh fastest, putting him in the second row of his heat race.
Finishing third in his heat race, Allard would make the transfer to the 25-lap feature event, but missing the redraw, he line dup in the fifth row.
When the green flag dropped on the race, Allard got off to a good start, as he worked his way up into the seventh spot, by the time the first caution waived a few laps into the feature event.
As the race wore on, Allard got stronger and stronger, and coming to the checkered flag, Allard made a move on Rico Abreu to net him the third spot at the finish line.
Saturday night saw the King of the West Series invade the Silver Dollar Speedway for the Annual Dave Bradway, Jr Memorial event, an event Allard is the all time win leader at.
The night got off to a slow start for Allard as he timed in 25th fastest putting him in the fourth row of his heat race, where his fifth place finish forced him into the B Main.
Lining up in the fifth row of the B, Allard was on a mission to get to the feature event, and that he did as he made it look easy charging from 10th to a second place finish, transferring him to a ninth row starting spot in the feature event.
Just as he did in the B, Allard was able to move forward, as he took advantage of a few free spots in the early goings of the feature event, but as the race got a few long green flag runs, he was able to carve his way up to a sixth place finish, and take home some extra prizes for being the Hard Charger of the race.
“We really got things going in the right direction after our heat and time trials,” he said. “Hopefully now we can get ourselves timed in a little better and put this car up front to start the night, and see if we can get a couple wins for Clyde and Marion Lamar.”
Allard would like to thank Tri-C Manufacturing, K&N, ButlerBuilt, Platinum Powder Coating, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Red Line Oil, KSE Racing Products, Weld Wheels, NGK Spark Plugs, FK Rod Ends, Hunt Magnetos, Longacre Products, Ti64, A.R.T.
