In a weather shortened weekend, Lance Dewease and his Dietz Motorsports team were in action at the Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night for the World of Outlaw tune up with the track allowing teams to run the World of Outlaw tire in preparation for their visit this coming weekend.
“We continue to get better each and every week, and Friday night was no different,” Dewease said. “We timed in okay, but we seemed to race well, and hopefully we can continue to get better and better.”
With 31 cars on hand for the single night event at the historic venue, Dewease timed his C.C. Dietz Builders/Conduit Connections/Hess Ornamental Iron entry in 11th fastest.
Picking up his heat race win in convincing fashion, the Fayetteville, PA driver earned a berth in the night’s Dash where he gridded the field in the fourth row.
Starting seventh, Dewease was able to improve his feature event starting position an entire row, as his sixth place finish pitted him on the outside of the third row for the 25-lap 410ci feature event.
Rolling around the speedway, Dewease was able to find some moisture on the speedway as he worked up into the fifth position.
Hanging tough in the Top-Five, Dewease would take a couple of late stabs at the fourth spot, but as the checkered flag waived, he crossed in the fifth spot.
“The last few times out at Williams Grove we have been pretty good, so it was nice to run well again, and hopefully with two big nights ahead of us this weekend, we can keep it rolling and hopefully pikc up a feature event win.”
