– Getting ready to head back on the road with Phoenix Racing, Tim Kaeding hopped aboard Paul Silva’s potent No. 57 machine for the weekend as he took on the King of the West Series at the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night, before picking up his first KWS win of the 2014 on Saturday night at the Marysville Raceway Park.
“I can’t thank Paul Silva, and his entire No. 57 team enough for everything,” Kaeding said. “We were really good both nights, but after some bad luck on Friday it was great to end our weekend with a win on Saturday.”
Saturday night at the Marysville Raceway Park, ‘TK’ timed the Lucas Oil Products/A.R.T./Pro Bilt Construction No. 57 in fifth fastest, putting him in the second row of his heat.
Running third in heat race action, Kaeding earned a spot in the Dash based on his time trial time, and a second place finish would put him on the front row of the 30-lap feature event.
Running in the second spot for the first three circuits, Kaeding made his move around Mitchell Faccinto on the fourth lap, and began to slowly pull out to a sizeable lead.
With a late race stoppage bunching the field back up, Kaeding was able to get the jump on the restart, but Faccinto shadowed him, and was able to take the top spot, but Kaeding returned the favor a lap later, as the duo excited the crowd.
In the closing laps, Kaeding was able to break away, and pick up his first series win of the season, in what was only his second start.
“I had a blast racing with Mitchell Faccinto, and have no doubt he is going to be really good as he gets older,” he said. “This Silva Motorsports car was awesome, and I am happy to get them a win.”
Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, the Silva/Kaeding combination was just as lethal, as Kaeding showed serious speed in the feature event as he lined up in the 12th spot.
In just seven laps, TK had rode the cushion to get into the 7th spot, and he used a restart to climb into the third spot by the eighth lap, as he chased after Bud Kaeding, and Willie Croft.
Getting up as high as second at one point, Kaeding’s night came to an early end, as mechanical woes sidelined him on the 21st lap.
“We had great speed all weekend long, and I think we were capable of winning both nights, but it wasn’t in the cards,” he said. “I had a blast, and can’t thank this team enough.”
The Silva Motorsports team thanks Lucas Oil Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Pro Bilt Construction, Palmero Properties, Finley Farms, Car and Fleet, FK Rod Ends, Wesmar Racing Engines, Amerikote, XYZ, Hoosier Tire, Pro Shocks, Banshee Graphics, Dan Olson Products, K&N Filters, RE Technologies, Weld, Schoenfeld Headers, Butlerbuilt Seats, Vortex Wings, CP Pistons, Cometic Gaskets, Huggins Cams, BR Ignitioneering, Shift Creative, and Petersen Media for their partnership in 2013.
