The Independence Day holiday weekend kicks off Thursday night at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio for the 3rd Annual Bob Reynolds Memorial race featuring the NRA Sprint Invaders and the UMP Modifieds. Car counts are expected to be on the high side with $7500 awaiting the winning sprint car competitor and $3000 going to the winner of the UMP Modified A-main. Track officials have not released a complete entry list but say some of the drivers expected to attend will “shock” race fans. Other rumors around the racing world have, on the fringe driver Christopher Bell, two time All Star champion Greg Wilson, and Ohio native Sheldon Haudenschild all planning to take on the 1/3 mile high banked dirt oval for their shot at the $7500 payday. Many UMP Modified drivers have expressed great interest in the race and the solid payout throughout the field. One of the Midwest greatest fields of Modifieds is expected to take the green flag Thursday night. Beer will be available for purchase the night of the event with a portion of the proceeds going directly to support Children’s Medical Missions West charity. Coolers are permitted with no carry in alcohol. Drivers are reminded that an open Hoosier tire rule has been put in place on the right rear for the Thursday event only. Pit gates open at 2:30PM; grandstands at 3:30PM. Opening ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 7PM with the first green flag of the night directly following. Adult general admission is just $18, young adults aged 11-15 are $15, with kids under the age of 10 FREE. Pit side admission is $30.
