Tulsa, OK — (March 24, 2015) — The off-season always seems to be an eternity to the racing community. The AmeriFlex Hose & Accessories / Oil Capital Racing Series kicks off their 2015 sprint car traveling road show this coming Saturday night at the Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore OK. After dealing with Mother Nature the last couple of weeks, it will be the racetracks season opener as well. Saturday will be the first OCRS event where AmeriFlex has donned the hat of ‘Title Sponsorship’ at an OCRS racing event.
AmeriFlex has been a loyal supporter of the OCRS series since the 2010 racing season when the company issued product certificates for the first couple of years of their involvement. In 2012 – 2014, AmeriFlex owner Corvan Robison upped the ante by sponsoring the Hard Charger award and now comes the ultimate backing as AmeriFlex, a Tulsa OK based company, is now the overall title sponsor.
The race teams are antsy and restless and will look to capture a solid finish in an attempt to start the season off well. Saturday night’s event winner at SOS will pocket an extra $500 from AmeriFlex in addition to their traditional purse winnings. As mentioned in a recent press release, 3-time OCRS champion Sean McClelland will return to the series full time in 2015 to vie for AmeriFlex bonus cash and a record tying 4th championship. Jamie Passmore from Rose OK is currently the only 4-time champion of the series.
Gary Owens of nearby Pauls Valley OK is an expected contender for the SOS event. Owens won the 2011 Oklahoma State Championship event and scored not one, but two Harold Leep Jr Memorial events (2013-14). These triumphs were earned at the Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada OK and Owens would like nothing more than to score his first SOS feature win in front of his best fans this weekend.
Multiple 2014 feature winners Alex DeCamp (5), Chance Morton (3) and Brian McClelland (2) will be in attendance. B. McClelland won one of his features at SOS last August while Shane Sellers went to SOS victory lane last April. 2014 series runner-up Danny Smith and multi-time Creek County Speedway champion Brent Bates will also see action at SOS.
The state of Texas looks to send pilots Brandon Long, Chad Koch, TJ Honkomp and the Cothran boys, Tyler and Cody, to take on the Sooner speedsters of Miss Shayla Waddell, Johnny ‘Hotrod’ Kent, David Stephenson, Sheldon Barksdale and Casey Wills among several others. A packed field of entrants from all over the vast region is expected for the season opener. Several stock car classes will be in action also.
