Windom, MN — (June 30, 2015) — The FVP National Sprint League is looking to kick off the Fourth of July weekend in big style this Friday night, July 3 at the Huset’s Speedway near Brandon, South Dakota. Not only are fans going to enjoy drivers vying for $5,000 to win in some great racing action, fireworks will be a part of Friday’s show as well! The event will also serve as the first eligibility race at Huset’s for the $25,000 DeBerg Concrete Triple Crown Challenge!
Independence Day weekend and South Dakota bring to mind Mount Rushmore. Fans could argue for years about who would be carved on a “Mount Rushmore” of Huset’s Speedway history. A strong argument could be made for at least three drivers headed on a collision course for the 3/8-mile oval this Friday night with the FVP National Sprint League!
Altoona, Iowa’s Terry McCarl would be a Huset’s Rushmore lock. The eight-time track champion is also tops on the all-time win list with 95. “Dynamite” Mark Dobmeier could go off this weekend as well. The Grand Forks, North Dakota native recorded his 59th 410 win at Huset’s last Sunday night, and the five-time track champ is second in the track’s history of wins. NSL point leader, “The Dude” Danny Lasoski is third in wins all-time with 41. The Dover, Missouri driver also has three track championships of his own at Huset’s.
Joining that trio in action Friday, will be current track co-point leaders, Tim Kaeding and Dusty Zomer. Kaeding, from San Jose, California, took over the driving duties this season in the Dave Lunstra Motorsports #3. Over the years, he has taken a quick liking to Huset’s, and earlier this year, recorded win #4 there. Brandon’s own, Zomer has six wins at Huset’s and will be piloting the Todd and Susan LaHaise #82. Other NSL drivers with trips to Victory Lane expected in Friday’s field include Prairie City, Iowa’s Lynton Jeffrey (6), Aussie Ian Madsen (6), Altoona, Iowa’s Austin McCarl (5) and Aussie Brooke Tatnell (1).
A new winner is entirely possible as well! Two-time Knoxville Raceway champion, Brian Brown is fully capable, as is seven-time IRA champion, Bill Balog, two-time USAC sprint and midget champion, Bryan Clauson, Minnesota’s Davey Heskin and a host of others!
Rock Rapids, Iowa second generation driver, Jody Rosenboom registered his sixth career win at Huset’s earlier this season, and leads the local contingent of drivers expected to challenge the NSL. Eric Schulz, Chuck McGillivray and Justin Glaser compose a few more of the Huset’s regulars.
Adult tickets are $25, Juniors 8-14 are $5, and 7 and under are FREE! Hobby Stocks, USRA B-Modifieds and Micro Sprints are also on the card. Race time is 7 p.m.! For more information on Huset’s Speedway, visit www.husets-speedway.com!
