The NAPA/Ossipee Auto Parts Sprint Cars of New England stopped at Bear Ridge this week for Race 8 of the 2015 tour. The SCoNE regulars were ready to do battle after the Triple Crown races over the 4th of July weekend and were joined by two new drivers.
Allison Journey took over Lauren Boisvert’s #22 for the remainder of the season. Lauren is recovering from surgery for a sports injury and Allison, who is an experienced racer and is studying in Boston, stepped in to wheel the #22. Jeff Dow recently moved from Colorado and brought his #8X sprinter with him that he campaigned in several western sprint car series. Jeff is now living in Maine and had the able assistance of David Bowser, owner of the #66 car, to set his car up for the Bear Ridge track.
In the first qualifier, Kevin Chaffee quickly came to the front from his 7th place starting position with Steve Hutchinson taking second. Scott Holcomb dominated the second qualifier with Will Hull grabbing second.
The NH GroundScapes Dash for Cash saw Jake Williams cruise to the win and the cash.
The 30 lap A-main lined up on a smooth track with a very fast high groove. From his outside pole starting position, Steve Hutchinson took the early lead and maintained it for 20 laps while Scott Holcomb worked his way up to 2nd. When a spin by Luke Greenwood and points leader Dan Douville caused a yellow flag and a bunching of the field, Holcomb had his break. Scott was past Hutch in 2 laps, but 2014 Champion Chris Donnelly was there to challenge for the lead. Scott was able to hold the lead for the win. Chris took 2nd with Jake Williams grabbing 3rd. Hutch placed 5th which was his best SCoNE finish.
The next race on the NAPA/Ossipee Auto Parts 2015 sprint car tour is at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday August 9th. Get the latest SCoNE news and information at www.NESprintCars.com and on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/nesprintcars – Come Race With Us –
