Elma, Washington- The Wingless Sprint Series would make their first appearance of 2016 at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington on Saturday June 11th. The tour was supposed to race at the 3/8-mile clay oval a few weeks earlier but rain would spoil those plans. Sixteen Non-Wing Sprint Cars would make the trip representing the states of Oregon and Washington.
Sherwood, Oregon chauffeur Rob Lindsey would be the car to beat come feature time. Lindsey, in the Maxline Custom Cases/Summerfield Golf & Country Club/Speedmart Inc. #23 XXX, seized the lead on the opening lap to set the tone early. He would remain there for the entire race and managed to master every restart to win his second WSS victory of 2016.
Second place would go to the Pure Addiction Diesel Performance/Champion Racing Oil/Top Coat Powdercoating/Randy Busser Sandblasting #15R Maxim of Forest Grove, Oregon’s Jake Gilman followed and Despite getting involved in an earlier incident Jonathan Jorgenson, from Tacoma, would place his Jorgenson Manufacturing/D.G. Machine #2J XXX in third. The rest of the top five would consist of Salem, Oregon pilot Tim Alberding, in his Alberding Racing #52 Maxim, in fourth and fifth finishing Otto Jorgenson, from Auburn, in the Jorgenson Manufacturing/D.G. Machine #8X.
Rob Lindsey was fast time of the night while Lindsay Barney, of Eagle Creek, Oregon, won the trophy dash in her J.A.B. Motorsports #57 entry. Heat races were won by Rob Lindsey and Jonathan Jorgenson.
