McCune Captures Spartan Sprints Victory

Spartan Speedway Mason,Mi.-July 1^st, 2016-Jimmy McCune made the trip from Toledo,Ohio worthwhile  as he won the 30 lap feature at Spartan Speedway Friday evening in front of nice crowd to kick off the Independence day weekend.

Tom Patterson and Doug Stepke sat on the front row with Stepke leading the initial circuit. But a charging McCune made it three wide with Stepke and Don Hamilton with the #88 of McCune using the high side to take the lead at end of lap two.

McCune quickly expanded his lead, however Hamilton kept him in his sights as Stepke and Doug Dietsch were having a spirited battle for fourth.

At the half way mark, McCune had a half straight advantage over Hamilton as the fight for 4^th heated up. By lap 20 McCune had checked out but racing for 2^nd to 4^th had become intense. At 25 laps, the trio of cars running behind McCune were slicing and dicing with Doug Dietsch squeezing past the #31 of Hamilton to take 2^nd.

At the checkers it was McCune, Doug Dietsch, Stepke, Hamilton and Don Dietsch. The dash was won by McCune with the heat race going to Doug Dietsch.
