Taking part in four Speedweek Northwest Events and a weekly Placerville Speedway show, Steven Tiner had a very successful week that saw him pocket his second win of the season and land on the podium three additional times.
“It was a pretty good week for our team,” Steven Tiner said. “We got the chance to head up to Oregon and run a few races and have some success, and we made a long trip home worth it by grabbing our second win of the season on Saturday.”
Having a little misfortune that relegated him to a seventh place finish on Monday night at Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, CA, Tiner would travel to Coos Bay, OR on Tuesday night and have a much better night.
Timing the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious backed No. 94 machine in second fastest in time trials, Tiner would finish both fourth in his heat and the Dash.
Lining up fourth in the feature event, Tiner would run up front as he battled hard with Mitchell Faccinto for most of the night. Running in the third position, Tiner would take advantage of a late restart to surge to the second spot where he finished.
Traveling to Lebanon, OR on Wednesday, Tiner continued to have great speed in Oregon as he timed in fourth quickest in time trials. Finishing fourth in his heat, and second in the Dash, Tiner would line up on the front row of the feature event alongside Kyle Hirst.
Running up front for the duration of the feature event as he chased after the likes of Roger Crocket and Kyle Hirst, Tiner would battle with Justyn Cox and Jarred Ridge for the final spot on the podium.
Keeping his challengers at bay, Tiner would finish third to capture his second consecutive podium of Speedweek Northwest.
Unable to complete the whole speedweek, Tiner and company opted to skip Thursday’s event at Sunset Speedway in Banks, OR, but were back in action for one final night on Friday at Cottage Grove Speedway.
Timing in sixth fastest, Tiner would pick up a third place finish in his heat race as well as the Dash and take the green flag from the second row for his final Speedweek Northwest feature event.
Jumping into second when the race came to life, Tiner would then find himself in a fight for the race lead. Hanging his right rear over the groove off of turn four, Tiner would make hard contact with the retaining wall that caused him to lose some positions. Sliding back to sixth, he would fight back to close his Speedweek with a third place finish.
Loading up and heading south, Tiner checked in at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for another night of weekly point racing.
Timing in 15th quickest in time trials, Tiner would make some swift moves in his heat race that saw him drive from fifth to pick up the win and earn a spot in the important redraw.
Pulling the three pill, Tiner would line up in the second row for the 25-lap affair. Chasing after Sean Becker and Kalib Henry for the opening 12 circuits, Tiner would use a double file restart to apply heavy pressure on Henry for the second spot but remained in third.
Lap 18 saw another stoppage and this time Tiner was able to get by Henry on the restart and take over the second position as he then set his sights on Becker. Taking the white flag in the second spot, a yellow would waive slowing the field down and setting up a green-white-checkered finish.
The restart would see Tiner move around Becker to take the lead with two-to-go. Taking the white as the leader, Tiner this time would see the yellow flag fly as he was coming for the checkered as it set up another green-white-checkered finish.
Keeping Henry at bay, Tiner was able to hang on and score his second win of the 2017 season.
“It was a long, hard week capped off with a pretty long drive home Friday night but it makes it worth it to end it all with a win,” Tiner said. “We have had some great speed all month long and we are hoping to keep it up moving forward.”
Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.
