OHSWEKEN, Ont. (May 24, 2024) – Carrier Truck Centers & Bobcat of Brantford presented Trucker Night at the Races on Friday at Ohsweken Speedway; Dylan Westbrook, Steve Murdock, Ryan Beagle, Alex Riley took A-Main wins.
Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars
The front row of the grid featured Eric Gledhill and D.J. Christie to begin the 25 lap 360 Sprint Car A-Main. Gledhill led the first lap with Dylan Westbrook nipping at his heels. Gledhill was holding off Westbrook until the caution came out on lap five. Westbrook took advantage of the restart, quickly displacing Gledhill as the leader.
Westbrook was setting blazing lap times and caught the back of the field by lap ten. Westbrook had lapped all the way to the eighth place car of Darren Dryden at the conclusion of the race. Rounding out the top five were Cory Turner, Ryan Turner, Christie, and Mike Bowman.
Strickland’s Crate Sprint Cars
Jeremy May started on pole with Travis Hofstetter next to him for the 20 lap Crate Sprint Car A-Main. A red flag was thrown before the first lap could be completed when Tyler Ward flipped on the back stretch. He was able to pull himself out of the wrecked car unscathed.
The restart led to a second red flag when Larry Gledhill also flipped on the back stretch. The third restart was also cut short, this time due to Niko Hansen who spun to a stop on the entry of turn four. The fourth restart was successful and Murdock rocketed ahead, setting the pace at the front of the field. Murdock endured three more restarts later in the race and secured a well-earned victory. Brett Stratford and Lance Erskine worked themselves into second and third place respectively, while Jesse Costa finished fourth, and A.J. Lewis rounded out the top five.
Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks
Trevor DeBoer and Ryan Dinning brought the 26 car field to the green flag for the 20 lap Thunder Stock A-Main. Ryan Beagle had a perfect start and took the lead from his third starting position. Meanwhile, Mike Klanzinga put on an engaging battle for second place against DeBoer as the two raced door-to-door.
Lap three came to a halt due to Gofast Teeple stopping in turn four. The final caution of the race came around on lap six. Beagle endured the restarts virtually unchallenged throughout the entire race and started off his Ohsweken season with a victory. Joining Beagle in the top five were Klazinga, Dinning, Dave Bailey, and DeBoer.
HRW Automotive Mini Stocks
Tim DeBoer started on pole alongside Tristan DaSilva to take the green flag for the 15 lap Mini Stock A-Main. The Mini Stock division was the first feature race of the night, with some drivers still shaking off the rust as a caution came out on lap one. Ken Hair became the race leader after executing the restart perfectly, but a succession of cautions followed.
Tim DeBoer, Hair, and Alex Riley each took their turn in the lead when the green flag reappeared. Riley edged out enough to lead the final lap, taking the victory and all the opening night glory for himself. Settling for the top five were Hair, Gillian Hils, Tim DeBoer, and Dusty DeBoer.
