KNOXVILLE, IA (August 6, 2025) — Ryan Timms showed speed and poise well beyond his 18 years of age in route to winning the opening night of the 64th NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals Presented by Casey’s Wednesday night at Knoxville Raceway.
Timms, from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, used a tremendous start to move from eighth to third on the opening lap, taking the lead from Justin Peck on lap 10, and opening a 1.021 second advantage at the finish.
Lucas Wolfe and Justin Peck started on the front row for the 25-lap preliminary feature event.
Wolfe led into turn one until Peck hustled around the top of the racetrack to take the lead.
Timms, who was the fastest qualifier that transferred out of their heat race, surged forward from eighth starting position to third spot behind Wolfe and Peck on the opening lap. Wolfe’s stay in the runner up position was short lived as Timms dropped him to second on lap two and began to chase down Peck for the lead.
11 laps into the main event had a stoppage when Kaleb Johnson flipped in turn one after contact with the wall. Johnson exited the car under his own power.
Peck started overtaking slower cars on lap eight, which allowed Timms to close. Two laps later Timms was able to dive under Peck and slide up the track in turn two, capturing the lead. Timms continued to maintain a healthy distance from Peck until the finish with Peck holding onto the runner up position.
Sheldon Haudenschild, Garet Williamson, and Emerson Axsom rounded out the top five.
During his heat race, David Gravel and Hunter Schuerenberg made contact with Gravel getting into the wall in turn one and flipping. Gravel’s team made repairs and won the C-Main event.
Kasey Jedrzejek took a wild tumble during his heat race in turn two after getting over the cushion.
During the B-Main event James McFadden and Sye Lynch were racing for the final transfer spot, made contact down the front stretch, and sent Lynch into a frightening series of flips after hard contact with the inside wall on the front stretch.
All drivers involved were able to exit the car under his own power.
Abreu was the fastest qualifier over the 51-car field, going out seventh to set a 15.411 seconds and won the B-Main event. Tanner Holmes, Johnson, Landon Crawley, Chris Martin, and Blake Hahn won heat races.
