Halloween may be just a few days away and children are getting their costumes ready for trick or treating, but the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions want to take you back to the end of June for the 27th annual Ohio Speedweek.
Greg Wilson outdueled Kelly Kinser Friday night in the All Star sprint 30-lap Ohio Speedweek feature at Limaland Motorsports Park. His fourth win of the season paid Wilson $6,000 and came in front of another sellout crowd in Bob Hampshire’s No. 63.
Byron Reed outran early leaders Kevin Huntley and Travis Rilat Saturday night at Attica Raceway Park to win the All Star Sprint Coors Nationals 40-lap feature on Sarah Fisher night. Reed, aboard his family owned Reebar Die Casting Maxim rode Hoosier Tires into victory lane.
Frankie Kerr had to wait until Sunday afternoon to run the feature at the New 96 Speedway after a large thunderstorm washed out racing just before the main on Saturday night.
Rains hit Sunday night at Millstream Speedway just after time trials, canceling the All Star sprint program. The event will not be rescheduled, and the All Stars return to Millstream for the Ohio Speedweek opener on June 27.
Kenny Jacobs led wire to wire in Saturday night’s All Star Circuit of Champions feature at the Butler Battlegrounds in Quincy, Michigan. This was Kenny’s fourth All Star win of the season, and the first ever win for car owner Tim Hughes in the state of Michigan after having terrible luck up in the Wolverine State.
Kevin Huntley ended his very long dry spell with the All Star Circuit of Champions Friday night at the Crystal Raceway by winning the GM Powertrain 40. Huntley certainly had to work hard to end his winless streak because of a race long battle with Dean Jacobs and Kelly Kinser despite running on six cylinders and the motor overheating. This was Huntley’s first All Star win in over two years.
Kenny Jacobs decimated the field in the All Star sprint 30-lap feature Saturday night at Eldora Speedway. The win for Jacobs was his second All Star win of the season, and it was his first time back racing since a back injury earlier this season.
Ever since the Frigidaire All Star sprint cars first sanctioned the Florida Sprint Speedweek at Volusia Co. Speedway in 1993, one driver had never won more than two races in a year – until Saturday night.
