Iowa Speed Week to Again Award the Jesse Hockett “Mr. Sprint Car” Title

The Knoxville Raceway and the Southern Iowa Speedway, just 26 miles apart on Highway 92 in south central Iowa, are each gearing up for their part in the eleventh annual Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Iowa Speed Week, August 2-11. The overall point champion of the thirteen-race, ten-night series of winged and non-winged sprint car races will earn $2,500 and the title of “Mr. Sprint Car” in honor of the late Jesse Hockett. Sammy Swindell of Tennessee is the two-time and defending Jesse Hockett “Mr. Sprint Car” titlist.

“EXPAND THE DREAM” HAPPENING NOW AT THE NATIONAL SPRINT CAR HALL OF FAME & MUSUEM

Beginning in August 2011, the board of directors and staff of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum embarked on “Expand the Dream,” a three-year, $3.3-million comprehensive fundraising campaign. Expand the Dream has two primary goals: 1) construction of an enhanced staging & storage facility, and 2) short-term growth of the organization’s endowment funds.

JASON MEYERS NAMED NORTH AMERICAN 410 SPRINT CAR POLL “DRIVER OF THE YEAR” FOR 2011… AGAIN

For the second straight year, Jason Meyers of Clovis, California, was voted the “Driver of the Year” by the North American 410 Sprint Car Poll voting panel of media members, promoters, sanctioning officials and manufacturers. The 2011 World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series point champion earned twenty-six (26) of the twenty-nine (29) first-place ballots cast in the year-end poll. For the first time, team owners Chris Luck, Jason Meyers and Guy Stockbridge earned 410-cubic-inch sprint car “Team of the Year” honors.
