R.J. JOHNSON ADDS QUEEN CREEK’S “SPRING FLING” TO WIN LIST

Grabbing the lead from Josh Pelkey on lap six, R.J. Johnson of Phoenix claimed Saturday’s “Spring Fling” victory at Arizona Speedway. The $1,500 USAC SouthWest Sprint Car triumph marked Johnson’s first win of the season (12th overall) as the series heads back to Canyon Speedway Park on April 26th. Pelkey, Shon Deskins, “Chargin” Charles Davis Jr., and Matt Rossi rounded out the top-five drivers at the fast 1/3-mile clay oval.

Concord’s “The Demon” Damion Gardner raced to his third consecutive Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car victory of the campaign. Taking the lead from Matt Mitchell on lap four and battling with Mike Spencer, Gardner claimed the $2,500 “So Cal Sprint Car Spectacular” at Perris Auto Speedway. Fast qualifier Spencer, Mitchell, Nic Faas, and Austin Williams rounded out the top-five drivers.

Hull takes Jacksonville MOWA win

Three-time and defending Midwest Open Wheel Association Series champion Jerrod Hull, made it known, Friday, that he plans on making a serious run at a fourth title.
Hull led all 25 laps of the MOWA sprint car series presented by Casey’s General Stores main event at Jacksonville Speedway to pick up the series’ opening night win.
