When it came to time trials at the famed Eldora Speedway during World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series events last year, no one had a better record than David Gravel.

Simply put, David Gravel had a battle on his hands all night at Salina Highbanks Speedway in the World of Outlaw STP Sprint Car Series event on Saturday, April 27.

Faced with the prospect of racing just once for the second weekend in a row, thanks to Mother Nature interrupting the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series schedule, David Gravel did what any true racer would do.

Fresh off a runner-up finish with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., on Saturday, April 20, David Gravel will be a guest on “Winged Nation” on MotorRacingNetwork.com today at Noon Eastern.

Oftentimes in racing top-five finishes lead to podiums, which ultimately lead to wins. David Gravel has finished among the top-five on a handful of occasions this year and move up to the podium on Saturday night with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series at Tri-State Speedway in Indiana, as he closes in on his first win of the season.

t’s become second nature for David Gravel over the last six weeks to visit a track for the first time and have a handful of laps to get up to speed.

David Gravel began the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series West Coast Swing in early March not really knowing what to expect. He was set to visit tracks he had never seen, racing a car he had never driven, as he was tabbed to fill-in for the injured Bill Rose.

Prior to this weekend in World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series competition this season, David Gravel never had to look at the radar on his phone or even worry about rain for that matter, because weather had not been an issue in the first 11 races of the season for the series.

David Gravel is getting to know the state of California pretty well, after making his first-ever trip to the Golden State last month to race.

Not only does it take a fast race car to run up front with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, but it also takes a little bit of luck.

It’s another race weekend for David Gravel this week with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series and that mean he’ll be visiting yet another track for the first time.

Sometimes in racing it’s all about being in the right place at the right time. Both races David Gravel competed in this past weekend with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series were filled with yellow and red flag periods, with the young driver steering clear of those incidents in one event and being involved in a wild last lap in the other.

It takes some drivers quite a while to get acclimated with many of the tight bullrings in California. That wasn’t the case for David Gravel, as he was able to get up to speed pretty quick in his first pair of starts in the Golden State last weekend with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.
