Rossburg, OH —  (May 6, 2013) — Bill Rose is full of announcements lately.

On the public address system Friday at Eldora Speedway, Rose declared that David Gravel would be in a second car for Bill Rose Racing for the rest of the season with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.

On Monday, Rose said he will return to the seat a week earlier than anticipated. After being sidelined from a broken arm sustained in the season-opening weekend and a short return last month, Rose said physical therapy has done wonders with his left arm and he will return this weekend when the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series competes at Elko Speedway in Elko, Minn., on Friday for the FVP Outlaws at Elko.

“I was actually going to start back at Lincoln Speedway the following week, but this thing has come together pretty quick,” Rose said of his deal to keep Gravel with Bill Rose Racing.

Gravel has four top-five finishes, nine top 10s and 14 top 15s this season, including two more over the weekend at the famed Eldora Speedway. He ranks sixth in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series and has helped Bill Rose Racing to seventh in the owner points.

“We’re teaming up with his car owner that way he can run the rest of the year,” Rose said. “That way he can run for Rookie of the Year and run for points. I think it’s just going to work out really well for both of us. He’ll take care of the pressure of keeping the points up and I can just go out and race.”

On Friday at the half-mile track, Gravel qualified fifth quickest and finished third to earn a spot in the dash. The invert placed him fourth for the six-lap dash, a race which he battled an ill-handling car and dropped to eighth.

“We had the car way too loose in the dash,” Rose said. “At Eldora if you don’t have your stuff right, you’re messed up already.”

Gravel rallied in the 30-lap feature to finish seventh, which was his fifth consecutive top 10.

A hole in the opening turn plagued the team on Saturday at Eldora Speedway, where Gravel qualified 18th to narrowly miss the heat race inversion.

“The car kept bottoming out,” Rose said. “We raised the car and it just killed the forward drive in the car.”

After missing out on advancing through his heat race by one position, Gravel was relegated to the Last Chance Showdown. He finished second to Tony Stewart to earn a transfer to the feature, which Gravel started 18th.

He picked up a handful of positions to finish 14th in the main event.

“Definitely a solid weekend,” Rose said. “It’s racing with the best. I’m definitely happy with everything.”
